Saturday evening in Helsinki brang the Eurovision competitor Bambie Thug to Korjaamo Culture Factory. Already sold out concert was an exhilarating blend of heavy and pop, creating a wonderful experience for the audience. The set design stood out right from the start, with LED lights on the stage which created a some sort of symbols providing dramatic backlighting that enhanced the mood of the show.
Bambie Thug’s ability to merge contrasting genres was evident in their performance. The heavy parts brought a raw energy that got the crowd headbanging and moshing, while the pop elements added catchy melodies that had the audience dancing and singing along. At least for us, Bambie Thug's more heavier songs really made them shine the best showcasing the vocal ability to sing anything. This balance of aggression and accessibility is part of what makes their sound so distinct, and they managed to showcase it perfectly in Helsinki.
The energy on stage was contagious, with Bambie Thug interacting with the crowd throughout, making it feel like an intimate, yet high-octane performance. Throughout the set they had an dance break, taking political stand for Free Palestine as well as shooting water to the audience through water guns.
In short, the Helsinki show was a brilliant display of Bambie Thug’s versatility, combining striking visuals with a genre-bending sound that left the audience buzzing. Show started with the brand new song Hex So Heavy after the intro and ended with the Eurovision song Doomsday Blues. Hope to see Bambie Thug returning Helsinki and Finland soon.
